Welcome to my first BLOG post, designed to help other women feel somewhat educated and prepared for perimenopause! I want you to feel empowered and confident that you can handle "the change" like a BOSS! My mission is for no woman to feel completely caught off
guard by the start of perimenopause.
Let's talk basic biology for a second! While our bodies and cycles are all unique, the average age for women to reach menopause is around 51. Menopause is when a woman has gone without a period for 12 months.
Before we reach menopause, we will go through what is called perimenopause.
Perimenopause can last anywhere from 2-8 years and while, for most women, it begins sometime in their 40s, you can start to experience symptoms as early as your 30s or as late as your 50s!
As you enter perimenopause, you may start to notice the first symptoms which include irregular periods. Bleeding may become lighter or heavier, may last longer or become shorter than normal. You may start experiencing hot flashes and sleep disturbances as well.
Now that you know what to look for, let's talk about some things that you can do to feel more in control of these changes!
You'll see me say this repeatedly throughout my BLOG- no matter what symptoms you are dealing with in perimenopause or menopause, if any symptoms ever become so painful or disruptive to your life, it is important to talk to your doctor! It's better to be safe than sorry, when it comes to drastic changes in your body. Speak up and let them know what is happening.
Hopefully, your perimenopause symptoms will just be more of an annoyance or an inconvenience, rather than a life-altering dramatic event. For many women, they are able to manage with over-the-counter supplements and everyday products that are easily accessible.
I am so glad to see how openly women are speaking about their journey to menopause nowadays and REALLY love all of the amazing products that are available to manage symptoms!
While my passion for this BLOG was born out of a desire to help women, some of the links in my articles my be affiliate links which means that I may receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you, should you decide to make a purchase through one of my recommended partners. I prefer to share products that I trust, offered by trusted partners, that I hope will be truly beneficial to my readers. This partnership helps to fund this site so I can continue to bring you my caring content.
So let's start with the symptom of PERIOD IRREGULARITY. When our periods start to become unpredictable, it can be a little nerve-wracking to not know when you might start and if it could be unexpectedly heavy, as well. My first tip for this worry is to grab some of the amazing reusable period underwear that is out there. Period underwear are absolutely amazing because they provide that constant assurance that you are covered, just in case!

These are my pick for period underwear. Click the link below to check these out on Amazon or find a pair that best fits your needs.

If reusable period underwear are not for you, consider
these disposable period underwear from Always.
Enjoy the peace of mind that you are covered while you sleep. Click the link to find current price on Amazon and learn more about this product.

My most common go-to for the issue of unexpected flow has been these thin panty liners by Always. I love that I have
protection, with a barely there feel. Check
them out on Amazon:
Besides period changes, if you are starting to experience vasomotor symptoms, otherwise known as hot flashes, as well as sleep disturbances, be sure to watch for my next BLOG post to drop as I will be giving my 2 cents on those 2 symptoms and what gets me through!
